Attending EduCHI 2024

Venue & Location

EduCHI 2024 will be hosted by Pratt Institute’s School of Information at the Pratt Manhattan Center at 144 West 14th Street, located on the border of two historic New York City neighborhoods: Chelsea and Greenwich Village.

We have created a custom map showing the conference location, local hotels, and nearby attractions (restaurants, coffee shops, landmarks, etc.).

Accessibility

Transportation

Information on airports, regional trains, and local subway, bus, and bike share information is below. Additional information on getting to NYC is available from the city’s official guide. Pratt’s website also has detailed directions on getting to the Manhattan campus.

Airports

New York City is accessible by three international airports:

  • John F. Kennedy (JFK), which is approximately one hour from campus by subway;
  • LaGuardia (LGA), which is approximately 30-40 minutes by car/taxi; and
  • Newark Liberty (EWR), which is connected by regional trains to New York Penn Station and by buses to Port Authority, both of which connect to various subway lines and buses.

Trains

Regional trains are available at Grand Central Station and Penn Station. Both connect with various subway lines and buses.

Subway & Bus

Pratt Manhattan Center is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues on the south side of the block, closest to Seventh Avenue. The nearest subway stop is 14th Street/Seventh Avenue on the 1/2/3 line. Subway riders may also take the A/C/E train to 14th Street/Eighth Avenue or the F or V train to 14th Street/Sixth Avenue. The M20 bus runs to 14th Street/Eighth Avenue, and the M6 runs to 14th Street/Sixth Avenue.

A crosstown bus or the L train can be taken to travel along 14th Street in either direction.

MetroCards may be purchased at subway stations, and OMNY contactless fare payment is also available. To plan your trip, visit the Metropolitan Transit Authority website.

In addition, the PATH train can be taken from Jersey City or Hoboken to 14th Street/Sixth Avenue in Manhattan. For more details, visit the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey website.

Bike Share

NYC’s public bike-sharing system has stations near the Pratt campus and throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan. For more information, visit the Citi Bike website.

Parking

Parking is limited near the conference venue. Public transportation is strongly encouraged.

* The conference organizers are pleased to offer an affordable housing option at Emerson Place, Pratt’s newest residence hall on the corner of Emerson Place and Myrtle Avenue in Brooklyn (two blocks from Pratt’s Brooklyn campus). Requests to stay at Emerson Place must be placed by May 22, 2024.

Weather

In June, NYC has long days and pleasant weather. During the day, on average, it reaches 79°F (26°C), and it drops to 64°F (18°C) on average at night.
